Olivia Chan is a health care policy intern at The Century Foundation, where she focuses on issues of health insurance coverage, maternal health, and health disparities. She is interested in addressing the social determinants of health inequities—especially in regards to food and housing insecurity, the environment, and educational opportunities—through research and by bridging community-based organizations to policy stakeholders.
Prior to joining TCF, she worked at the Franciscan Center of Baltimore, an emergency outreach center, as a human services worker and researcher on food access. She also worked at the Center for a Livable Future on city and state innovations to improve access to healthy foods. She has supported research on the Philadelphia Beverage Tax, housing safety in Baltimore, and behavior change interventions for family-planning in low- and middle-income countries. She earned her BA in public health and social policy at Johns Hopkins University.
