Communications Intern

Hybrid (New York, New York or Washington, DC) or Remote Work Opportunity | 20 Hours/Week | Compensated at $18/Hour

The Century Foundation (TCF), a leading progressive think tank, is seeking a part-time Communications Intern for the summer 2025, beginning early June through August. The intern will assist the communications team on a variety of projects, with a focus on media relations support.

This is a part-time position, 4 hours per day, Monday-Friday, compensated at $18/hour. We are open to candidates who are fully remote or two days per week in-person, in either our New York, NY or Washington, D.C. offices.

Responsibilities

  • Help execute media outreach strategy, including proactively pitching local, regional, and national media.
  • Develop materials. Write persuasive external and internal documents such as press releases, media advisories, op-eds, talking points, and more.
  • Prep media inquiries. Coordinate interview requests and prep experts for media appearances.
  • Maintain media relations systems. Consistently update and build press lists across TCF and Next100’s issue areas and compile weekly news clippings.
  • Additional support for the communications team, including drafting social media and email copy, assisting on event planning, and building out content on TCF’s website.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Student current seeking a degree at college or university (undergraduate or graduate), preferably in related studies (political science, public policy, and/or communications)
  • Previous internship experience in the communications and/or policy field preferred, but not required
  • Strong analytical, verbal, written, organizational and communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail, and willingness to learn new skills or techniques
  • Dedication to building a stronger, more equitable, and more inclusive society
  • A commitment to progressive values and interest in TCF’s research agenda

Development and Fundraising Intern

New York, New York Hybrid Work Opportunity | 20 Hours/Week | Compensated at $18/Hour

The Century Foundation (TCF) is seeking an intern to support our fundraising team during the summer 2025 semester, beginning now through mid-August. The development intern will have the opportunity to learn about nonprofit development by helping with fundraising, prospecting research for institutional donors and major individual donors, and working for an established progressive think tank with offices in New York and Washington, D.C.

This internship is a paid 15-20 hour-a-week, part-time position out of TCF’s New York Office. The team is in-office two days a week and will require that of the intern as well.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Institutional and individual prospecting research to support agency grant-seeking and individual giving potential
  • Assist with entering key prospects into agency database management system, Salesforce
  • General data entry and updates into Salesforce
  • Database cleanup projects in AirTable and Salesforce (event list donor mining and list management for End of Year Appeal)
  • Assisting with additional Development and Finance projects as they arise

Job Qualifications

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • Student currently seeking a degree/certificate at college or university (undergraduate or graduate) – preferably in related studies (fundraising, public  administration, or nonprofit management)
  • Interest in public policy is not necessary, but ideal
  • Experience with Excel, and Google Suite; experience with donor databases (Salesforce, Foundation Center Online, QGiv, etc, a plus); also, Airtable
