Political activity has survived in unexpected quarters across the Arab world despite systemic repression. “Arab Politics Beyond the Uprisings: Experiments in an Era of Resurgent Authoritarianism” is a multi-year project supported by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. TCF and outside researchers are collaborating to study political activity, dissent, governance and forces of reaction at a time when authoritarian relapse has obscured the optimism of the 2010–11 popular uprisings.
