Miriam Nunberg, Esq., is a self-employed education rights attorney and consultant, who focuses on advocacy for parents of students with special needs in the New York City public schools. She is also a co-founder of Brooklyn’s District 15 Parents for Middle School Equity, which successfully advocated for equitable reform to the District’s middle school admissions process, and was a member of the working group that developed its groundbreaking district-wide middle school integration plan. She is currently a member of the NYC Alliance for School Integration and Desegregation’s Steering Committee, and is the co-founder of the Brooklyn Urban Garden Charter School. Miriam served as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights for fourteen years, and began her career as a special education teacher. She holds a law degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, a Master’s of Education from Smith College, and graduated cum laude from Brandeis University.
