Kathleen Johansen is a social insurance policy intern at The Century Foundation with an interest in advocating for more equitable policies at the federal and state level relating to unemployment and other social insurance policies. Currently, Kathleen is a second year masters of public policy candidate at GWU’s Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration. Most recently, she was a Graduate Teaching Assistant where she facilitated lab sessions and guided students through SPSS, a statistical software/data management program. She also worked at Legal Aid Society of San Diego in their Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Advocacy team where she assisted staff attorneys in obtaining medical records for clients as well as scheduled their hearings with the Social Security Office of Hearings Operations. Kathleen holds a BA from the University of Oregon in Political Science and a minor in Media Studies. She is originally from San Diego, California.
