James A. Parrott is director of economic and fiscal policies at the Center for New York City Affairs at The New School. Parrott’s research helped bring over $20 million in federal funds to New York following 9/11 to aid dislocated workers. He coordinated the economic research in support of New York State’s $15 minimum wage policies and has been one of the leaders in the campaign to raise wages for nonprofit NYC workers providing human services under government contract. Parrott co-authored, along with University of California–Berkeley’s Michael Reich, the pathbreaking analysis that supported New York City’s first-in-the-nation minimum pay standard for app-dispatched drivers. He currently serves on the New York City Advisory Commission on Property Tax Reform.
