Hailey Gibbs is a senior policy analyst for early childhood policy at American Progress. Her work focuses on the social and economic benefits of investing in early child care and education; promoting equity through child care access and infrastructure; and best practices in supporting children’s learning. Her research also spans topics under the social determinants of health umbrella, including family economic security, health care access, and housing and nutrition programs. She received a bachelor’s degree from Salisbury University and a Ph.D. in Human Development from the University of Maryland College Park. Gibbs worked as a post-doctoral fellow on the Playful Learning Landscapes Initiative at Temple University, and has published in a variety of academic journals, including the Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, Cognitive Development, Child Development, and Frontiers in Psychology.
