The Century Foundation today, in partnership with the National Partnership for Women & Families and Caring Across Generations, launched the Care Research Hub, a one-stop shop for the latest care research on a wide range of care policy issues, including child care and early learning, paid leave, aging and disability care, and good jobs for care workers. This hub will be jointly maintained by the three organizations and aims to include up-to-date releases of major research.
The Care Research Hub was designed in response to the current caregiving crisis in the United States and aims to leverage wide-ranging research on the care economy and policy solutions to understand how communities are harmed by barriers to giving and receiving care and what can be done to solve this issue.
“An increasing body of research makes clear what people across this country already know: that having access to robust care infrastructure is not only good for families, it is good for entire communities, businesses, and our economy as a whole,” said Julie Kashen, Century Foundation Director of Women’s Economic Justice. “This new hub will serve as a one-stop shop for policymakers, advocates, the media, and anyone interested in the latest evidence into the effectiveness of public investments in the care economy.”
“Women in our country continue to perform the large majority of unpaid caregiving, and millions of women do so while also balancing professional responsibilities. At the same time, the protections and infrastructure designed to safeguard the rights of women are being stripped away and undermined. In this critical moment, the Care Research Hub can play an important role in pushing policymakers to finally center the challenges women face,” said Jocelyn Frye, president of the National Partnership for Women & Families. “Data often speak volumes by providing an unobstructed view into the experiences of women. The research we and our partners produce provide clear, compelling evidence of the solutions that women need to thrive. We are excited to help launch the Care Research Hub as we continue to fight for women and working families.”
“Care is the foundation of our economy and our daily lives, but the research that can drive bold, effective policy change has too often been fragmented or out of reach,” said Jaimie Worker, Senior Director of Policy and Research at Caring Across Generations. “The Care Research Hub brings it all together. It’s a vital tool for anyone working to strengthen our care system–for aging and disability, paid leave, child care, and good jobs for care workers–making it easier to access the data and understand what families, caregivers, and care workers truly need, and turn research into action that delivers real policy solutions.”
