The Century Foundation, a leading progressive think tank, today announced the addition of a new trustee and a new visiting senior fellow, along with the election of new officers to its Board of Trustees. Ganesh Sitaraman, the director of the Vanderbilt Policy Accelerator, will serve as a Century Foundation trustee. A prominent law professor and author of several books including The Crisis of the Middle-Class Constitution, Sitaraman has been profiled in The New York Times and Politico for his pioneering work at the nexus of politics, policy, and ideas.
Aya Ibrahim, a strategist and policy expert recognized for her leadership at the intersection of technology, economics, and national security, has joined the organization as a visiting senior fellow. Ibrahim has served in a number of government roles, including senior advisor at the State Department and at the National Economic Council. Ibrahim joins five other recent visiting senior fellow additions to TCF: Janelle Jones, Lorelei Salas, Kody Kinsley, Seth Frotman, and Eduard Nilaj.
TCF trustees also recently elected Damon A. Silvers as chair of the board, succeeding Bradley Abelow. Silvers, who has served on TCF’s board since 2015, is one of the nation’s leading labor advocates whose two decades as a top lawyer and policy strategist at the AFL-CIO helped shape landmark fights for workers’ rights and financial reform. He will be joined in the board’s leadership by Teresa C. Younger, who will serve as treasurer, and Heather Howard, who will continue to serve as secretary.

Ganesh Sitaraman holds the New York Alumni Chancellor’s Chair in Law at Vanderbilt Law School, and is the director of the Vanderbilt Policy Accelerator. He is the author or co-author of six books, including The Great Democracy (2019), The Public Option (2019, with Anne Alstott), and The Crisis of the Middle-Class Constitution (2017), which was named one of The New York Times‘ 100 notable books of the year. Sitaraman was a longtime adviser to Senator Elizabeth Warren, including as a senior adviser on her 2020 presidential campaign. He earned his A.B. in government from Harvard College, a master’s degree in political thought from the University of Cambridge, and his J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
Aya Ibrahim is a strategist and policy expert who has advised decision-makers through periods of financial instability, technological disruption, and geopolitical volatility. During the Biden-Harris administration, she served as a senior advisor on the Secretary of State’s Policy Planning Staff, in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and on the National Economic Council, where she led work on the Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights and the Executive Order on Digital Assets. Previously, she was Senior Economic Advisor to Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, overseeing her Financial Services Committee portfolio and her technology and civil liberties agenda. Ibrahim is currently a senior fellow for economic and national security at the AI Now Institute and a frequent commentator to traditional and new media outlets. She is a graduate of Swarthmore College and is fluent in Arabic and Spanish.
