The Century Foundation (TCF) President Mark Zuckerman today praised the appointment of current TCF Labor and Employment Director Jody Calemine as the new Director of Advocacy for the AFL-CIO, the nation’s largest federation of labor unions, saying:
“Jody is a powerhouse advocate for unions and working people, and I couldn’t be happier for him or for the AFL-CIO on his appointment to one of the country’s most important positions in organized labor. From the day Jody joined TCF, he has elevated our efforts to build worker power during a year of unprecedented labor mobilization and growing public support. He took the fight head on, just as he always has—in both government and the labor movement.
“In Jody, the AFL-CIO has selected someone with a rare mix of policy expertise, litigation and advocacy savvy, and a commitment to tried and true worker organizing. We congratulate the AFL-CIO on a superb choice to fill the large shoes left behind by Bill Samuel, who is retiring from the union after 24 years of extraordinary service.”
