What if Israel held an election and no one talked about the peace process, the Palestinians or the occupation?

Update: Watch taped video of the event below.

Last month’s elections for the Israeli Knesset featured surprisingly little debate about each of these issues, even at a time when fundamental political changes are roiling the region—and the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians remains at a standstill.

Have Israelis adopted a post-occupation mentality? Is the focus on economic and social issues an indication that Israeli voters support maintaining the status quo for Palestinians? And what are the implications for US political leaders intent on moving forward with the peace process and the two-state solution?

Century Foundation fellow Michael Cohen and a panel of experts including Alon Pinkas, a former Israeli diplomat and consul general of Israel, Haviv Asaf Gur, a New York-based reporter for the Times of Israel, and Yousef Munayyer, Executive Director of the Palestine Center in Washington will explore these and other questions in a 90-minute discussion on February 21, 2013. Events starts at 12:00PM. A light lunch will be provided.
